Stress-Free Animal Growth on a Chicken Farm
Introduction
Modern livestock facilities require extensive technical systems for temperature control. High-performance fans generate constant background noise that demonstrably inhibits animal growth and lands operators with noise-pollution fines.
In this environment, conventional absorbers made of rock wool or foam pose a hygiene risk: they release fibres into the air, absorb moisture and provide a breeding ground for germs. The porous absorbers are also hard to clean — a critical drawback in animal husbandry, where hygiene is paramount.

Solution
Working closely together, various installation options for the micro-perforated aluminium Absora-sheet were tested directly inside the JetMaster DX75 by Big Dutchman. Empirical measurement series identified the aerodynamically and acoustically optimal arrangement.
The decisive advantages:
Excellent acoustics in the airflow: the micro-perforation absorbs sound directly where the noise originates — with no thick insulating layers.
Maximum hygiene: the smooth aluminium surface offers no breeding ground for germs and withstands high-pressure cleaners and chemical disinfectants.
Low air resistance: because Absora-sheet is far more space-saving than mineral wool, the effective air cross-section stays larger.
Energy efficiency: the minimised resistance means the fans consume less energy for the same airflow.

Results
Acoustics: a reduction of −5 dB — corresponding to a 68% drop in the perceived sound-pressure level.
Biological efficiency: improved animal welfare and accelerated growth through optimised barn conditions.
ROI: elimination of fines and drastically reduced cleaning cycles thanks to the washable, germ-resistant surface.
