Phase 01: The Problem

Modern livestock facilities are highly complex and technically sophisticated buildings. A great deal of technology is required for effective temperature control (cooling and heating). High-performance fans, for example, generate a constant background noise that demonstrably inhibits animal growth and leads to noise pollution fines for operators. Conventional absorbers made of rock wool or foam pose a hygiene risk in this environment: they release fibers into the air, absorb moisture, and provide a breeding ground for germs. Furthermore, these porous absorbers are difficult to clean, a particularly critical factor in animal husbandry.

Phase 02: The Solution

In close collaboration, various installation options for the microperforated sound absorber were developed.HSA3 made of aluminumdirectly inJetMaster DX75 by Big DutchmanTested. The aerodynamically and acoustically optimal arrangement was determined through empirical measurement series.

  • Excellent acoustics in the airflow:The micro-perforation allows sound absorption directly where the noise originates, without the need for thick insulating layers.
  • Maximum hygiene:Unlike rock wool, the smooth aluminum surface offers no breeding ground for germs. It is resistant to high-pressure cleaners and chemical disinfectants – critical for use in barns.
  • Low air resistance:Since HSA3 is significantly more space-saving than conventional mineral wool, the effective air cross-section remains larger.
  • Energy efficiency:The minimized resistance ensures that the fans consume less energy for the same airflow.

  • Acoustics:Reduction of -5 dB, which corresponds to a reduction in the perceived sound pressure level of 68%.
